New Moon 12/04/2021

Tomorrow, the 12th April, will see a new moon conjunction at around 3am UK time. It is also the first day of the sixth month in the Celtic calendar, Cuithe, cognate with Kutios in the Gaulish calendar. It also marks the beginning this year of the Islamic month of Ramadan, a time of fasting during daylight hours.

The new month has the Yerm month no. 19(09, and therefore has 30 days, running from 12th April to 11th May, inclusive.

The calendar for this month can be downloaded below.

Welcome to the New Moon in Pisces, which in the New Celtic Calendar is the month of Uarain, or the “Cold Month”. It is cognate with the Gaulish month of Ogroni or Ogronios, and is the fifth month of the year. The Yerm Month is 19(08, which means that the month will have 29 days, and therefore will run until April 11th.

Welcome to Hrethmonath

Today is the first day of Hrethmonath in my Anglo-Saxon, or Old English, Calendar. It’s the third month of the year and the last month of Winter. It is also roughly equivalent to the astrological period of the sign of Pisces.

The days are getting noticeably longer now as sunset is, in my part of the world, now approaching 6pm, and sunrise is around 7:30am. Next stop is the Easter Month and the coming of Spring.

Six More Weeks of Winter

So, it seems that Punxsatawney Phil saw his shadow and therefore it is predicted that there will be six more weeks of winter. It certainly seems to be the case, although the snow we have had so far has been very wet and is not collecting at all. It’s supposed to get worse in the next few days though.

Today is High Winter, which marks the point at which the sun is at 15 degrees of Aquarius, or half way between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox. It marks the time when the days are getting noticeably longer, even if the weather is still decidedly wintry.

Welcome to the new website

Welcome to the new version of this website, Timey’s Calendarium.

The site now has an all-new design, powered by WordPress. Most pages can be accessed via the main menu at the top of the screen, although a small number of pages are, by necessity, outside of WordPress. For those pages, click the “Home” button or hit the “Back” button to get back to the main site.

The main page is now the “Home” page and not the page with the dates in various calendars that was used before. To access that page, click the “Dates” option in the menu at the top of the screen.

There may be one or two things not working correctly initially. Be assured that I will be testing everything and will get everything running as it should as soon as possible. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the site.
